Our new adventure

As many of you know, Brad and I have been looking for a house for the past few months. We originally planned to buy an existing home, but were unable to find one we liked in Clinton, which is where we want to live. We finally decided on building and searched for land to build on for weeks. Let me just say that land in Clinton is expensive! Eventually, we found an affordable lot in the Kirkwood subdivision. We have been in contact with the builder who owns the lot, and he has had our plans drawn up, as well as a contract. We signed the contract on Monday and in 90-120 days, we should have a new home. We are both really excited about this new adventure. We already know one of our neighbors. Just across the street from our lot, one of Brad's friends from MC (and former roommate) and his wife built a house. It will be fun to live near our friends.

We went to see the lot on Monday night, and we were surprised to see the house pad has been done. Hopefully, at the beginning of next week, they will begin on the foundation. I took a few pictures with my camera phone, so I can post them here and keep track of the progress. Right now it just looks like a bunch of dirt, but someday, it will look like a home. It was fun to stand in the middle of the pad and imagine that one day it would be our house. It's very exciting.
